In September 2015, I started working with Upward Mobility. Despite only being with the Charity just over a year, I have developed a love and passion for the work we do.
''Upward Mobility is an Edinburgh based Charity providing support and opportunities for adults with Learning Disabilities and Autism. As well as providing tailored support services, we have a growing reputation for our curriculum of Creative Workshops, Educational Activities and Vocational Programs.''
We provide a range of different Workshops for adults who are less fortunate at finding work or simply can't get into the working industry due to the severity of their disability. The support we give as a Charity ensures our Students receive not only the care they deserve but the added excitement and fun to their day.
In the past we have held events in order to raise money. Any money raised goes towards the Student Fund and the upkeep of Workshops. It helps us to purchase new resources and organise Outward Mobility trips, giving the Students the opportunity to experience different parts our Country and others. When thinking to myself ''how can I do my part for the project?'' I thought Marathon, Bake Sale, Sponsored Walk.. but none had the required adrenaline I was looking for and that's when I eventually opted for a Skydive!
In June, I will be jumping 10,000ft for the Charity of my choice and my place of Work 'Upward Mobility.'
Please help me on my quest to raise money so that Upward Mobility can grow and continue the amazing work that goes on behind the scenes. Work that helps this Charity be what it is. A place where adults with Learning Disabilities can come and be themselves whilst socialising and making new friends. A place with compassion and care for all our Students!
Thank you in advance from myself and all the Staff and Students at Upward Mobility x
