Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit our JustGiving page!

It's Adam, and here's our story. Back in the early part of 2020 i had a great idea let's take on a challenge and raise some money at the same time. Then Covid hit and the event was cancelled. However fear not i received an email last week (April 5th 2021) saying that the event is back on for June 2021.

Only one slight issue, my none exercise period has now hit an all time high of 20 months.

Being the fattest and certainly the most sloth-like of my brothers, the sensible option would be to say that's not enough time to prepare let's see if we can change events. Give us plenty of time to train, lose weight and get fit while aiming for an event later in the year.

But then I thought nah that's no fun so instead we have 2 months and a 100km challenge to complete!

Couch to 100km in 2months what could possibly go wrong? Well according to everyone I have talked to, once they have stopped laughing, a lot.

Our aim is simple - complete the 100km ultra within the cut off point of 24hrs and raise some cash for a great cause along the way. It's 2021 and so we want to raise £2021, do you like what we have done there?

We will set off from Kendal at 9am on the Saturday doing a loop over the fells to Ambleside then down past Lake Windermere to Grange and back round to Kendal. The challenge is a continuous one so we will be going through the night and with a bit of luck finishing on Sunday morning. SIMPLES.

We have all been touched in some form or other by cancer. As I type this story Karl's wife's sister Debbie, has sadly passed in the last couple of weeks, and one of my managers at work Gill, has just returned to work after 15mths off with the disease. Our cousin Jane suffered from cancer in her twenties and I am sure many families have a similar story to tell.

So for us to put ourselves through a bit (we're optimistic!) of pain for just over a day is the least we can do compared with what people (and their families) who suffer from Cancer go or have been through.

We hope the above inspires or resonates with you. All we ask is that you donate what ever you feel comfortable with and pass our link onto another person who you know and ask them to do the same.

Thanks for taking the time to read this, Adam, Karl and Matthew.
