Story

Every Easter, we organise a 10 mile time trial to raise money for a local charity. Unfortunately, we've had to once again cancel that event due to covid restrictions. We'd still like to encourage folks to get out on their bikes and maybe raise a few quid for charity, so we've come up with the Sleaford Wheelers Virtual Easter Egg Hunt!

What's it all about?
Good question! In those modern video games that all the cool kids play, you can unlock various achievement badges by completing different tasks. We've come up with a list of our own cycling based achievements (or virtual Easter eggs) for you to attempt over the bank holiday weekend.

Do I have to pay to enter?
No, it's completely free to all club members!

What about the charity?
This year we're once again supporting the awesome St Barnabas Hospice charity. You don't have to donate anything, times are tough for many of us. But if you would like to make a donation, you can do so via our JustGiving page. Or perhaps you could ask others to sponsor you to complete your chosen challenges?

How do we know which challenges I have completed.
You need to take screenshots of your rides from Strava and take photos of you completing the challenges. Share them in our Facebook group or message them to us.

Can I complete more than one challenge in one ride? Yes you can! For example: if you complete a 50 mile ride, you will unlock the GO-RIDE, NEV CRANE AND HALF CENTURY badges. Climb 1000ft in that ride and also unlock the HALF CENTURY badge. See how many badges you can unlock in one ride.

Are there any prizes?
Yes. Real (not virtual) chocolate Easter Eggs!
The male & female Wheelers with the most badges collected at the end of the weekend will each win an Easter Egg. In the event of a tie-break, the rider who completes the longest ride gets the chocolate.
The fastest male & female Wheelers on our virtual 10 mile time trial course on RGT will each win an Easter Egg.
The Wheeler who shares the best photo at the portrait bench (according to our expert and impartial panel of judges...) will win an Easter Egg.
The Wheeler who shares the best Strava art (see above re: judging!) wins an Easter Egg.
Any Wheeler who completes at least 3 challenges will be put into a prize draw to win an Easter Egg (we've got loads!)

What are the challenges?
GO-RIDE: Ride your bike for at least 10 miles
NEV CRANE 25: Ride your bike for at least 25 miles
HALF CENTURY: Ride your bike for at least 50 miles
100 CLUB: Ride your bike for at least 100 kilometres (62 miles). Earn this badge twice by carrying on to 100 miles!

About the St Barnabas Hospice:

St Barnabas Hospice is a local independent charity who supports more than 10,500 people across Lincolnshire with a life-limiting or terminal illness each year.
