Could you power through the miles to help us beat dementia sooner? We're challenging you to take on between 100 and 500 miles in 30 days.

Story

Dear all,

As some of you may know, my father was diagnosed with the early stages of dementia back in 2019. This news has left the family feeling helpless, but we will continue to do our best to support him and help him enjoy the activities he loves. Unfortunately, dementia affects around 900,000 people across the UK, which is why I have decided to take action and raise money for the Alzheimer's Society.

Alzheimer's Society is here for everyone affected by dementia, wherever they are and whatever they're going through, until the day we find a cure. Your donations will help me on my journey to beat dementia, and I urge you to hit the Give Now button and donate what you can.

Dementia is a cruel disease and it's often linked to ex-sportsmen. As my father was a keen footballer in his youth, I believe his condition may be linked to the multiple headers he made during his time on the field. ‘Mick McHugh’ former Accrington Stanley player, still enjoys the great game but unfortunately due to this disease struggles to even remember that he’s just watched a match. I know my father is not alone in this and that's why I am passionate about raising money for Alzheimer's Society. Together, we can take positive steps towards finding a cure.

I will be riding from Lands End to John O’Groats starting on the 28th June 2023. Hopefully I will complete this 1000 mile journey before the years out!!!! Ooops, I meant to say 10th July 2023.

Thank you for your support.

Best regards,

Shaun McHugh
