'Smelly' Christmas · 13 December 2016

Imagine having to decide between going without food or without electricity. This is a real choice facing thousands of people in North East Scotland. Instant Neighbour aims to provide practical help, advice & support to some of the poorest and most vulnerable people living in and around Aberdeen.

Story

My little boy Freddie has his nappy changed whenever it is wet or dirty.  I use several wipes, pop some cream on his bottom and replace the nappy for a clean, dry one. I might even put the used one in a nappy bag before putting it in the bin. Every night, Freddie has a bath, full of bubbles which make him laugh and smell delicious. Then, finally, he gets warm and sprinkled in powder.

Me? My husband? We both have showers whenever we fancy. Lotions and potions galore.

I was heart broken to read that our daily routines are, in fact, a luxury. There are babies in Aberdeen with dirty nappies and Mummies  who would do anything to replace them.
