Smiles Per Gallon - Brought To You By The Charitable Gamers · 24 February 2022

We’re Mind, the mental health charity, working across England & Wales. We believe no one should face a mental health problem alone. We’re here for you. Whether you’re stressed, depressed or in crisis. We’ll listen, give support & advice, & fight your corner. Thanks for fundraising for national Mind.

Story

1 in 4 of us suffer some sort of mental health problem each year. Of which tragically 1 in 10 of us decide that the only solution to this problem is suicide is the only solution to this. This isn't okay.

This is why for my first fundraising campaign of 2022 i'm going to be supporting Mind. A mental health charity that's just as determined as I am to bring mental health problems to an end.

This isn't something i've ever said to anyone before, not even in private conversation. I've used Mind on several occasions, when life has been abit too much for me to bear and I felt like I had nobody to turn to and just rant and rave about how unfair life is. Mind was there. Their awesome team of people spared the time to make sure I knew I wasn't alone. That I was never alone.

Thanks to their amazing work, I'm here today on this JustGiving. Trying to spread that same message.

I bought a car for £100 off a lovely lady called Marion (Hi Marion!). This car has been sat for 4 and a half years but that hasn't deterred me from my plan. Making it shine again and then taking it on an epic 2000 mile road trip. 868 of those miles covering the iconic Lands End - John O' Groats route.

As if that wasn't enough, I plan to cover the Lands End - John O' Groats route in under 14 hours. A tall order, but nothing worth doing is ever easy.

I plan to stream the start and finish of this mammoth drive over on The Charitable Gamers Facebook page (link at the end of this story). If you want to see me embark and (hopefully) finish this journey, that's the place to be.

I'm dedicating this mammoth drive (that I technically shouldn't even be able to do due to my own medical problems) to my amazing family, friends and partner. I want them to realise that no matter how hard things are in life, they are not alone. While it's not quite ''the ends of the earth'', I am going from the ends of the country for you guys just so you guys know that you are not alone. I love you guys and I would hate for anymore of you to feel that suicide is the only way to solve your problems.

If you've made it this far then thankyou for reading, I know this is a very different story to the usual cheerful ones you're used to seeing me post. But mental health is no joke, it's something we all need to take seriously. I know that what I do here today will not do much in the fight against mental health problems but if i can change at least 1 life by doing this. That's good enough for me.

So please, even if it's just sharing my story. Please support this anyway you can, I know many of you will be unable to donate but just sharing this post does more to help this campaign than you could possibly imagine.

If you are in a position to donate, then please consider it. It's so important we keep charities like Mind up and running and any donations received will be hugely appreciated for many years to come.
