Snowdon Day Challenge · 3 September 2019 to 29 May 2020 ·

At Alzheimer’s Society we’re working towards a world where dementia no longer devastates lives. We do this by giving help to those living with dementia today, and providing hope for the future by campaigning to make dementia the priority it should be and funding groundbreaking research.

Story

As some of you know, I recently completed a hike to the summit of Mount Kilimanjaro and on return I had quite a number of people asking why I did not raise money for charity. To be honest I could not decide on a particular charity, until last week, whilst I was at the funeral of Cliff, who developed this horrible disease in his early to mid 50's. His wife, Karen, wanted part of his charitable donations to be raised for Alzheimer's society so it was at this moment I decided that I would raise money for them throughout the year, whilst doing a number of walking and running events.

My first ones will include a 26 mile walk around the North York Moors, a 25 mile walk around Kielder reservoir, walking to the top of mount Toubkal (North Africa's highest summit and this event which is to summit Mount Snowdon in Wales with my work colleagues who are all, also, raising money for this amazing charity.

I will have a target to raise money throughout the year by doing a different JustGiving pages for each series of events that I will be doing. Any generous donations you can spare would really help this organisation in their quest to fund research in finding a cure and to support people living with dementia today.

As many of you may know, Dementia is the UK's biggest killer and someone develops this disease every 3 minutes. Currently there is no cure. With everyone's help, the Alzheimer's society would like to achieve their aim- a world without dementia.
