UPDATE: 9 June 2011
36 hours to go...
Arrived safe in Keswick for overnight Thursday on way to John O'Groats for Friday evening. Set off for home again 0700 Saturday morning. Huge thanks to Ian and Jean (Mum and Dad) for the lift up the road! Some things never change...
Thanks to everyone who has sponsored me so far and to everyone else who might be sponsoring me during the ride. Every penny will be going to Sierra Leone to complete the building of the school and see it suitably equipped for the future.

One week to go...
Training has gone well. Just some last minute mechanical details to sort out on the bike and the journey to John O'Groats starts next Thursday, June 9.
Follow me on Facebook (Andy Healey) or Twitter (@solsticecycle) if you want to follow my progress with daily updates.
Thanks for all the support!
Andy.
UPDATE: 5 May 2011
Training for the ride has seen me covering 1000 miles a month for February, March and April, so I'm feeling fit and ready for the ride - just 5 weeks to go now!
PLEASE SPONSOR ME!
The aim is to raise some money to complete the building of the school in Sierra Leone and start equipping it.
A huge THANK YOU for every penny, all of which will go direct to CESO for the building project.

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
After last year's successful traverse of Ireland from Rosslare to Shannon, I have finally bitten the bullet and signed up for the full John O'Groats to Lands End challenge with the Ride Across Britain 2011 team (see http://www.rideacrossbritain.com).
That means taking nine days to cover the 950-mile route.
It's a bit further than I've done to date, so training started in September and is well under way now.
I have paid all the money needed to take part, so every penny raised through this page will go direct to CESO to help them complete the building of the Ivor Leigh Memorial School in Kaningo Province of Sierra Leone (follow the link to their page to find out more).
Please give generously!
Thank you for your support.
Andy.
