We support innovative projects to accelerate African-driven conservation

The devastating economic impact on the countries of Africa due to COVID-19 is threatening the future of the continent’s iconic wildlife. Safari lodges and camps have been empty for months, starving national parks of the essential income used to employ game rangers and anti-poaching units. Many rangers have lost their jobs or had their salaries decreased by up to 80%. With fewer patrols and increased poverty, poaching has soared.

Cape Classics Africa - Safari  Specialist - together with the cyclists of Somerbosch have planned 20 km rides on Saturday 12 September and Wednesday 16 September at Somerbosch at 0900. This is in support of the Ride4Rangers Challenge being held presently all over the world and which involves a cumulative 30000 km cycle, equivalent to a circumnavigational ride around Africa. Funds raised are being managed by TUSK (UK) of which Prince William is patron, and will be distributed across 60 different conservation areas in Africa.

Our entrants are asked to donate to our page. All donations are being matched by a private donor in the USA.

We urge you to support us by joining us to cycle or donating on our page.  A day-permit for Somerbosch trails will cost R 40.00 if purchased in advance or R 60.00 on the day. Contact Shirley Williams on or 0735524384 for more information.

We (The Somerbosch Ladies Cycle Group - see below) are excited to have you all join us to raise funds for the protection of our precious endangered wildlife.
