Story
The Royal Marsden Cancer Charity are extremely close in my heart (Matt), and have looked after my Mother for close to twelve years. She was diagnosed in 2008 with terminal (stage four) cancer, in which she was given a life expectancy of two years. This came about after she was told she had five tumours in her liver, which were luckily killed via liver oblations. She fought constantly for the these years, constantly here to see me through the next stage of my life whether that was going to secondary school, do my GCSEs and apply for university.
Mum fought tirelessly for many years, but sadly on the 12th April 2020 at 6pm she passed away peacefully with family at her bedside. If it wasn't for the Royal Marsden then I would have had the chance to make incredible memories with Mum which I can carry forward for the rest of my life. Some of the fondest times with Mum are from holidays abroad - and without the wonderful care from the Royal Marsden and especially Professor Johnston it would not have been possible.
Mum was always a bubbly and wonderful character to be around - and she will be missed by the many people who loved her.
The work the Royal Marsden do is amazing, and I couldn't say thank you enough - and hence the reason for choosing to fundraise for them.
They deserve every single pence which gets donated, as they genuinely help those with cancer and their families around them - as they have with me.
