FOECT, founded in 1951, raises money to help preserve our heritage by the making of grants for the repair and restoration of Christian churches and chapels throughout Essex and East London. The annual Ride & Stride event is a major source of income.

Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit our JustGiving page.

On Saturday 10th September, 2016 SongCycle sang unacompanied all 150 Psalms (including 150 Glorias) to Anglican chant. It took place in The Parish Church of St Thomas of Canterbury, Brentwood from 7.30am until we finished at 11.20pm. There were 2,811 verses in all.

For the past 20 years on the second Saturday of September we have taken part in the Friends of Essex Churches "Ride and Stride" but instead of just cycling from church to church, we have stopped and sung a different 4 part motet in each one, entertaining thousands along the way In those 20 years we have cycled 687 miles, visited 663 churches and sung 316 motets and raised over £36,000 for the Trust.

This year we thought we would do something different for our 20th Birthday. Visit just one church and sing 150 psalms!
