Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit our JustGiving page.

Songs4U comprises Cheryl and Steve Mills together with John Henson  (Songs4U page) who perform many concerts for charity. On Friday 16th December 2016 we are putting on a Christmassy Concert at the Ruddington Methodist Church, corner of Church St./Charles St. Ruddington, Nottm. NG11 6HA at 7.30 pm. Admission will be £5 and all proceeds will go to Children's Brain Tumour Research.

Four years ago our granddaughter, Eloise Mills was admitted to Nottingham Queen's Medical Centre (QMC) for removal of a brain tumour the size of a walnut, surrounded by a cyst the size of a satsuma. Fortunately the tumour proved to be benign. She received excellent care from all of the nurses and consultants and, after a meeting with Professor Walker we agreed to help with research into children's brain tumours and to help raise awareness so that other children can benefit from her upsetting experience.

Eloise recovered well and has blossomed into a happy and healthy 12-year old with a fun-loving temperament.

However it was discovered that a small fragment of the original tumour remained and as Eloise has grown then so has the remnants of the tumour to an extent where a further operation to remove it is deemed advisable. She will once again be undergoing a brain operation in the last week of November.

We have volunteered to be ambassadors for the Children's Brain Tumour Christmas Appeal which is aiming to raise £125,000 to support ground-breaking research into ependymomas, which are the second most common malignant brain tumour in children and adolescents. The primary aims are to improve childhood ependymoma survival rates and to decrease the side effects caused by existing treatments, thereby benefitting all children and teenagers diagnosed with an ependymoma in the future.

We are endeavouring to raise £1,000 towards the overall total.
