Story
New year, new route.
Same story(below), same reason, same destination.
Although it was a regular day in the office, I will never forget the April 28 of 2016. It was about 11AM when Amelia called me to tell me she went to the doctor for a pregnancy check and she was told they will start the emergency birth procedures. Twin pregnancy, but they could only hear one heartbeat. That was the day we met Sonia. Four weeks ahead of time. But we never had the chance to meet her twin sister, which we wanted to name Sophia. What followed was 14 days in hospital, some in intensive care, some not. Blood transfusion and different medical procedures. Seeing all those babies in the incubators was something I never thought I'll see in front of my eyes. You can truly understand one's pain when you're in their shoes, and there we were. And this is why we are now doing this, to help others as much as we can.
It never crossed my mind that writing about this would be this difficult.
I joined this action by Action Medical to ride from London to Paris and raise as much as possible for the premature children.
Action Medical Research is the leading UK-wide charity saving and changing children’s lives through medical research. Almost everyone has been touched in some way by our ground-breaking work, like the first polio vaccines in the UK, ultrasound in pregnancy and the rubella vaccine.
