THE ROAD TO RECOVERY
Last year I had a major operation on my foot correcting an injury from 11 years previous. On the 14th July 2022 I went into hospital not knowing whether I would ever be able to run again. After the surgery. which went well I was non-weightbearing for nearly 4 1/2 months. The pain from the surgery was nothing compared to the mental impact it had on me, but thanks to family and friends I managed to get through it. I knew it was going to be tough to get going again but I started at the beginning and walked to the end of the street, then struggled to walk back because of the excrutiating pain in my back. I did this numerous times a day and gradually built the distance up. Once I felt ready I started a walking group alongside the panthers running, changed my trainers from neutral to support and started walking as much as I could. In January I started couch to 5k and was able to start building up my running. I also do loads of fell walking to build up my leg strength and mental strength and spend time with my friends and my choc labrador. Its coming up to 1 year and 16wks away from the target I set myself to give me an insentive and also raise money for charity. Loch Ness marathon here I come!!! I've always wanted to do this 1 but missed out last yr due to my op so I'm determined more than ever. Its been a long journey so far and I have got a long way to go. None of this would be possible without the love & support from family and friends so Thanks to you all. My longest run so far was just under 9 mile but it was extremely hot and I walked quite a bit. I have also done a few runs round grisedale forest and run regularly with Panthers who have been and continue to be really supportive big thanks to you too !!!
That's the story so far no running tonight tho as I gave a pint of blood to save someones life. Hope you can spare a small donation it will be very much appreciated !Thankyou Sonja
