Story
I am running the London Landmarks Half Marathon on the 2nd April 2023. 🏃🏻♀️
My Mum died suddenly and unexpectedly in the summer of 2022. Our entire world was torn apart from that moment. My family and I have chosen to support the charity Hospice in the Weald in memory of Mum. Mum’s dad, Brian (Ampa to me) benefitted from the care provided by the charity in his later years and, since then Mum enjoyed volunteering at the Hospice as a finance administrator. She was the most selfless, kind-hearted and generous woman I knew, and I would like to do this for her, raising money for a charity close to her heart.
Hospice in the Weald provides care completely free of charge to patients with a terminal illness, and those important to them, in West Kent and northern East Sussex. The charity is there 24 hours a day to help, support and care for patients with an illness where a cure is no longer possible. Anyone affected by a terminal illness, including patients, family members and friends can access the support they need when they need it (physical, medical, and emotional).
I never thought I would be running anything like this, and anyone who knows me will know how much I dislike running without purpose (or without chasing a hockey ball!). But now I have a reason to run- someone to run it in memory of, whilst raising money for a charity who provide essential care to those who need it most.
I am forever grateful for whatever you can give, and for the ongoing love and support from friends and family. Thank you!💜🤍
