The Anthony Knights Foundation Trust offer support to carers and families managing disabilities throughout their everyday life. These are gifts which in some cases allow them to maintain a certain level of independence. We also support deprived children through gifts and days out experiences.

Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

I may only be 16, and I may have Cerebral Palsy and be wheelchair bound, but since when did that stop me?!

In April, I am thrilled to say that I will be doing a skydive to support the Knights Foundation, and the amazing work that they do with families in the community who have children with disabilities and special needs.

I am literally throwing myself into this (!) for two very good reasons.  One, I want to show younger children who have disabilities, that they can have the same thrills and sensory experiences as able bodied people... and  two, I really want to help support other families with disabled children to have a much needed break in the fully adapted Knights Foundation Lodge (https://www.facebook.com/TheKnightsFoundationLodge).

So... skydive huh!  Eeeeek!  The positives are I will need to have two strong handsome men with me to assist me!  Always a silver lining!

I have seen both my parents and brother do this for the Knights Foundation Charity in recent years,  and have always wanted to be part of this amazing challenge.  Obvious restrictions are there, and so it was never something that I thought I could do.  One morning I woke up and thought, I wonder if there is a way to do this?  I made a phone call to Go Skydive and they were as excited as I was to try and make this happen.  We talked through my disability, what I needed support for and the obstacles that we may encounter, and I was surprisingly reassured by the team that by working together, this could happen!  Ok, so now we have had a date confirmed, this is REAL!   It IS happening!

Monday 26th April 2021, Salisbury's Old Sarum Airfield...  it's a date!

In the light of day, the following morning I woke up to thinking 'oh my goodness, what have I done'!  The fear and panic was quite overwhelming, but you know what?  That's all part of it, right?

I had a choice of doing either a 12,000 ft or 15,000 ft skydive... you know which one I went for!  Yep, I aim to challenge myself, and so will be doing the 15,000ft dive!

I am excited... I am scared... I am bubbling with smiles, covering a multitude of anxiety and concerns... but most of all, I am PROUD that the saying that has always got me through physio and numerous surgeries throughout my life "I CAN AND I WILL", is something that is deep rooted in me.  If this skydive can help families like mine, then it's all worth it!

Please support if you can, it's all about how much money I can raise, so that more families can be supported and enjoy a much needed holiday away in a beautifully adapted, accessible holiday home.

Thank you to everyone who has supported, I won't let you down!
