The great advantage of living in a large family is that early lesson are made of life's essentials and unfairness. Back last year, in the summer of 2012, as a family we experienced one of life's difficult lessons about unfairness.
My dad who was a strong, fit, rugby playing, sports lover suffered from sudden heart failure, which resulted in him spending 6weeks in intensive care. However, with constant care, support and attention from the Staff at Morriston Hospitals ICU and the British Heart Foundation, Dad is still with us, fighting to get fit and determined to get even better.
So a year down the line and now that Dad is on the long yet stable road to recovery, with a lifetime worth of medication, I wanted to say thank you to the BHF and the Doctors and Nurses at Morriston for saving his life. And my great idea to do so...run a half Marathon!!!
For those of you who know me, I am a lover of sport and fitness, but I am not a runner. But I do love a challenge! Training is currently in full swing, I am exhausted but also loving every minute of it (Even the aches and pains).
