Story
I can hear you asking why a marathon when you don't run! I have to admit I am asking myself that very question!
Lockdown effected us all in different ways so for some mad reason I thought it was a good idea to get the trainers out (and purchase a few new pairs) and enter something challenging. Well that something "Challenging"ended up being the Jurassic Coast Ultra Marathon, I was 3rd woman over the line in 5 hours 55 minutes, in reality, that 26.2 miles along a coast path is actually a lot longer than you think! Training increased and with the support of a running coach, a tough training program and the constant support of Nick, the training miles started to tick by. The London Virtual Marathon on my own Dorset route, well I do like a challenge! so off we went, route sorted, Nick on his bike and all the jelly babies I needed, with the most stressful part being the heard of cows coming down the road towards me (my worst nightmare), I have never climbed a gate so fast!
So why Dorchester Hospital? Dorchester Hospital is a local hospital that over the years has treated my grandparents; Nick and his departed mum; ensured the safe delivery of my niece and friends children; put my brother-in-laws leg back together and is looking after and treating my lovely neighbour and very dear friend, the volunteers at the hospital are amazing, venturing out to collect and delivery her for treatment 3 days a week when the majority of sensible people are still in bed (or out on a training run!).
