Story

Hello! Thanks for taking the time to visit. I am running the Great North Run this year for the first time ever, and am doing it barefoot-style in my trusty Vibram Five Fingers.

For those of you who don't know, this means that my feet, hips and knees are responsible for all shock absorption, as the shoes have no padding, air bubble or 'support' to reduce the impact of a heel-striking stride. So I'm not running by heel-striking, but with a mid-foot strike which happens automatically when you take the padding away. It's hard work, and I have a permanent blood blister on my right big toe, but it's also a lot of fun.

So, I'm bouncing my way to South Shields on my toes in order to support the wonderful charity Scope, which does great work with adults and children who suffer from cerebral palsy. Please dig deep and help me to help them. Every penny counts!

Thank you.
