LUPUS UK is the only National Charity which supports people with the immune system illness Lupus. We have a number of groups throughout the UK and support over 5,000 members through these groups. We also provide funding for medical research into this life threatening and debilitating illness.

Story

Thank you for visiting my just giving page.

This is my story:

After a long three year battle of fighting for doctors to listen, telling them this isn’t right, I am always unwell to only be told it was all in my head or I am too young to feel that way! My body just gave up and in 2017 I was hospitalised with severe swelling of my liver. Four months passed and after multiple trips back and forth to the hospital I had my diagnosis of SLE Lupus and Mixed Connective Tissue Disease.

What is Lupus you ask? Lupus is a disease that occurs when your body's immune system attacks your own tissues and organs. Inflammation caused by lupus can affect many different body systems — including your joints, skin, kidneys, blood cells, brain, heart and lungs. This can have devastating and fatal consequences.

So what was my fast paced, active life soon come to a abrupt halt. I no longer had the energy to get up early and start my day or hit the gym after work. Everything was a effort, even existing felt like one big struggle. Two stone heavier, migraines, alopecia, anxiety, depression, pleurisy, sore joints, sickness, fatigue. My body was beaten down and exhausted. While I had my own personal fight with Lupus, two of my best friends also had and still continue to have their own personal fight with Lupus.

This charity is very close to my heart and when the time couldn’t seem more fitting, me and my best friend, Amanda will be trekking 56km (35 miles) from London towards Brighton on the 29th May to hopefully reach the goal of raising £400 each.

I would be incredibly grateful for any donation you could contribute for my goal of £400. I will be training roughly 3 times a week with Amanda to prepare us for the big day. We have never done anything like this before, so we are very nervous but so excited to be able to do this together for all of the reasons above.

Thank you to everyone who has taken their time in reading this and donating however much you can. Every little helps. Thank you ❤️
