"Swim the English Channel" · 3 December 2019

Heart Link, was originally formed as a support group for parents and families who have a child suffering from a heart defect. Since 1981 we have collected over £4 million pounds. This has been used to fund projects large and small. Thank you for supporting us!

Story

As most of you know, my daughter was born with CHD and has had quite the journey in her 7 years!

I have decided to swim the distance of the English Channel (21 miles....or 1352 lengths!!) to raise money for Heartlink.

This is a charity that is very close to my heart and has made such a massive difference in Olivia's journey so far. From the small things, like her teddy bear that she received when she arrived at Glenfield Hospital at 1 day old...to the bigger things, like the parents rooms provided for us so that we could stay close to Olivia throughout her time as an inpatient on several occasions. Heartlink have also provided numerous other items used at the hospital, from the critical life-saving ECMO machine, to the machine we use at home regularly to check Olivia's INR levels. It would mean the world to me to be able to give something back to this charity that have so selflessly helped so many children and their families. Please help me achieve this!!!

I am splitting the swim over the space of a month, mainly due to having to find the time to get into a pool around Uni/Mum life (and the fact that I'm not Rebecca Adlington!) !! I will be starting on Monday 3rd November and will complete all 1352 lengths before the 3rd of December!!
