#TeamWomensAid will be running the Royal Parks Half Marathon on Sunday 8th October 2023 to raise funds to support women and children affected by domestic abuse.

Story

I've created this page because I want to make a difference. I have met so many women who have suffered from domestic abuse, and the only way I can help is by supporting charities such as Women's Aid.

I'm inspired by the work that Women's Aid do to help women and children affected by domestic abuse, so I have decided to participate in the Royal Parks half Marathon to raise money for them.

Domestic abuse can include, but is not limited to, the following:

  • Coercive control (a pattern of intimidation, degradation, isolation and control with the use or threat of physical or sexual violence)
  • Psychological and/or emotional abuse.
  • Physical or sexual abuse.
  • Financial or economic abuse.
  • Harassment and stalking.
  • Online or digital abuse.

The worst part is so many women and children don't believe or realise they are experiencing domestic abuse. On average it can take seven attempts to leave their abuse. That's why the work Women's Aid do is so important, to support survivors, raise public awarenes, campaign and provide training.

Please help me help them by sponsoring me for this run. The more people that know about Women's Aid the greater their impact, so please also spread the word by sharing my page. Even a few pennies could make a huge difference.

Thank you in advance for your generosity, it means a lot!

All the very best,

Sophie xx
