Story
So I still can’t quite believe I’m doing it but I am running the London marathon 2018 for Motor Neuron Disease. I applied for a ballot place last year while lying on a sunbed in lanzarote, thinking it’ll take a few years at least to get a space. Somehow I got a ballot place on my first application and I’m now doing it! The training is underway and I need all the help and encouragement I can get! I am far from a natural runner! Probably the complete opposite so this is a big challenge for me! Rowing and running don’t go naturally and these thunder thighs make running hard work but I’m determined to try my very best!!!
Motor Neurone Disease is a cruel terminal disease that I work with on a daily basis. My MND patients are some of the most appreciative people and their journeys really touch me emotionally. It’s a disease that we don’t have a cure for and steals people away too young and too quickly. One of my favourite ladies with MND passed away on Christmas Eve and that makes me even more determined to do it for her and all the others suffering!
On the Isle of Wight we have a must higher percentage of people diagnosed with MND than the national statistic and so it makes it more important as an Island dietitian to raise money for such a worthy cause!
I managed the Great South Run in 2017 raising money for MND and I want to fight harder to raise even more money putting myself out of my comfort zone!
Please donate big or small!
