Royal Parks Half Marathon 2021 · 10 October 2021 ·

Every two hours, someone in the UK will become paralysed. Globally, it is estimated that 15.4 million people are living with paralysis. At Spinal Research our vision is to create a world where paralysis can be cured, no matter when the injury occurred or where in the world.

Story

On the 10th October Soph & Gem will be pounding 13.1 miles on the streets of London by taking part in the Royal Parks Half Marathon in aid of Spinal Research UK.

Having seen first hand from one of Sophie's colleagues whose husband has a spinal injury, we know how this charity can make a real difference by developing effective treatments for paralysis caused by spinal cord injury. Every year, 1,000 people in the UK and Ireland are paralysed following an injury to their spinal cord. The charity receives no government funding and relies entirely on the support of the public to raise funds for its research.

As friends who are always up for a challenge, when the opportunity to secure a place presented itself we nervously (and a few glasses of Provence later) said YES!!!.....There's no turning back now!

Our efforts, together with your generosity, will future proof new innovative medical research to ensure ground breaking changes in the field can continue to be achieved and positively impact the lives of those living with spinal injuries.

Thank you so much for your support xx
