The Big Half 2019 · 10 March 2019 ·

Hospice in the Weald provides compassionate, individualised, holistic and supportive care for all patients, and those important to them, in West Kent and East Sussex. As a local charity not part of the NHS we need to raise £8m each year to ensure our services can continue.

Story

In memory of my Dad's birthday on the 15th Feb 2019, I decided to run the vitality big half marathon on Sunday the 10th March, yes I know this was a crazy decision, considering I signed myself with less than 3 to train! However I felt I wanted to sign myself up for the challenge in honour of my Wonderful Dad!

However due to unforeseen circumstance I was unable to run this but thankfully the hospice managed to transfer my place and my fundraising page over to the Royal Parks Half Marathon on Sunday 13th October 2019, so please think of me when the time comes to run on that wintery day!

In August 2017, my dad was diagnosed with Liver Cancer and extremely quickly, the horrible illness took him from us, only one month after full diagnosis. This was something I never would have imagined my family would have to go through, nor did I think I would loose the most special Man in my life so soon, however with the help and support of Hospice in the Weald my dad was able to be with all of his family and pass away as peacefully as possible.

I am hoping that by running this half marathon, it will hopefully mean we can raise some money to thank the hospice for all of their support and for making what was a horrible time more bearable for myself and my family. It will also mean we have another excuse to celebrate what a great man my dad was!

Thank you for all your support xxxx
