We lost our wonderful grandad, Mike, to Lewy Body disease on the 8th of July this year. It is the second most common cause of dementia in older people, affecting approximately 130,000 individuals in the UK together with their carers and relatives. Despite these figures not many people have heard of it (including my whole family) until my grandad’s diagnosis. I’m doing the Great North Run for the Lewy Body Society to try and raise awareness and fund more research into this cruel disease.
