Sophie's Half Marathon

Sophie Boyd is raising money for The Royal Marsden Cancer Charity

Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park Half Marathon · 5 September 2021

We raise money to improve the lives of people affected by cancer. From funding state-of-the-art equipment and groundbreaking research, to creating the very best patient environments, we will never stop looking for ways to improve the lives of people affected by cancer.

Story

On the 5th September I will be running the Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park Half Marathon to raise money for the Royal Marsden Cancer Charity.

In 2016 my Dad was diagnosed with advanced prostate cancer and became a patient at The Marsden. Since then he has received various rounds of chemotherapy and radiotherapy alongside an on-going treatment plan but thanks to the hospital he continues to be doing well.

In 2018 my Mum was diagnosed with breast cancer and she also received treatment from The Marsden and is now thankfully in remission.

I am so incredibly proud of my Mum & Dad who continue to fight the big fight together. They are my greatest source of strength, my inspiration and my best pals.
I will always be grateful to The Royal Marsden for providing life saving treatment for my parents and to so many others.

I want to raise money in the hope that fewer people and families have to go through this. However, more funding is required for vital research into cancer in order for this to happen and eventually they will find a cure.

I hope you will be able to sponsor my run to help this incredible charity who need help in raising money now more than ever due to covid.

Any donations will be hugely appreciated!

Thank you,
Soph x
