Story

It’s coming up to spring and there is nothing better than a spring run around London. London holds so many dear memories for me from my 20’s, starting my career, which the more I look back on it, was such an amazing time, and also the start of so many life long friendships.

I will be running in the London Landmarks Half Marathon on 2 April,  and I am so excited by the route because not only is it pretty flat (😃),  but it takes me right past Surrey Street, when it all began, so I’ll be sure to do a little salut to Arthur Andersen 🙌

But what is more important, is why I am running. The event is organised by Tommys, and I will be running, raising money and awareness, for The Lily Mae Foundation.

When I was pregnant with my triplets, I avoided conversations about my pregnancy as it quite scary, high risk and overwhelming… but I always remember one of the most popular reactions from people when I told them I was carrying triplets…“Oh my god how are you going to cope having 3 babies”… but what worried me more was…  how would I cope if I didn’t…

I was lucky and I now have 4 wonderful teenage boys… but I am ever increasingly aware that not every pregnancy or birth ends as it is hoped, and when that happens, then how do people cope…

Tommys provides funds for vital research into miscarriage, stillbirth and premature birth… and I will be running and raising money for The Lily Mae Foundation, which aims to raise awareness of baby loss, and provides such vital support when needed (more details below 💕)…

So ‘increasing the hope’, and ‘supporting the cope’…

Any sponsorship would be amazing, as are any words of encouragement …

More on The Lily Mae Foundation…

Despite its frequency, there is very little public perception of the devastating impact of Stillbirth, Neonatal Death, Miscarriage & Medical Termination on parents, their families and friends. We are here to help and break the taboo associated with the loss of a baby.

The Funds that we receive help us to provide:

  • Memory Boxes to Bereaved Parents and Memory Making Kits to Grandparents
  • Sibling Support Packs
  • Counselling Support for Parents, Siblings and Family Members.
  • 1-2-1 Babyloss Support Service (BLSS)
  • Information to Parents, Families and to Health Care and Medical Professionals.
  • Training and Support for Midwives, Student Midwives and Neonatal Nurses.
  • Research into the Prevention of the Loss of a Baby.
