Sophie’s Super Scoot-a-thon · 20 March 2022

Stepping Stones DS helps families navigate the journey from birth to adulthood, helping young people with Down syndrome (birth to 24 years) to fulfil their potential. We support children and young people with Down Syndrome and their families in North Hampshire, Berkshire and Surrey.

Story

When asked how we should raise money so that her and her friends can keep going to have fun at SSDS (the kids and young adults see it as fun, but it’s life changing skills that they find a bit more challenging wrapped up in a big fun activity that SSDS arrange) Sophie said she wanted to scoot down our road 100 times! So, that’s what she’s going to do!

Sophie’s Super Scoot-a-thon will take place on Sunday 20th March and she’ll be completing 100 lengths of our road on her scooter, which is just over 100 meters each length.

Stepping Stones DS support over 150 families locally from newborns to young adults, and some parents even make contact before their babies are born. There are stay and play groups, early intervention classes, dance, drama, sports, and communication groups, as well as the support provided to the schools the children are based in, plus specialised training and social events.

So she’ll be scooting to make sure that her and all her friends can continue to access this amazing support.

Any small amount you can spare to support Sophie in her challenge will be hugely appreciated.
