Aplastic Anaemia robbed Sophie of her Granddad Les, who died when she was only 9 months old. He missed out on knowing his only Granddaughter. He was so excited when she arrived in this world that he charmed the maternity ward matron into letting him in outside of visiting hours so that he could meet her. 

Anthony Nolan found Granddad Les a bone marrow donor, which was his only hope of survival. Unfortunately, he became too unwell to receive it and died on the 26th September 2015. Every year we mark this sad anniversary by doing something positive. This year, Sophie wants to climb Pen y Fan mountain to pay her respects to him in the place where we scattered his ashes.
