The Bar Pro Bono Unit is a charity which helps to find pro bono (free) legal assistance from volunteer barristers. Pro bono assistance is only available to those who cannot afford to pay and who cannot obtain public funding (Legal Aid).

Story

On-Going activities;

- Kristian is growing an afro and will be dyeing it a colour of the donees choice in March; (http://www.facebook.com/events/318886001457999/)

- Also massive club night out on Wednesday the 25th with a "Slave for a Day" Auction happening; (http://www.facebook.com/events/296094460440734/)

Pro Bono is about supplying free legal services to people that need it the most and cannot afford it themselves; these are, among other things, cases to do with domestic violence, discrimination, unfair dismissal and judicial review (to see some examples of cases go to: http://www.barprobono.org.uk/case_examples.html).

With the upcoming Legal Aid Bill making cuts across the legal services, it becomes increasingly important to support those that are in these very serious situations without remedy.

Although the Lawyers volunteer their time (I know, Lawyers working for free sounds outrageous!), court fees and litigation still cost a lot of money: which is why the National Pro Bono Association need YOUR help so that they can continue helping others!

The Soton Justices is the team name for five law students at the University of Southampton competing in this years Law School Challenge, raising as much money as we can for two Pro Bono organisations: LawWorks and Bar Pro Bono Unit.

No donation is too small (or too large) so thank you in advance for your contribution :)

Kind Regards,

Kristian, Lyndsey, Roberto, Stevie and Lavan
