Our hospitals serve 900,000 local people. Whilst the NHS provides funding for the necessities, King George & Queen’s Hospitals Charity funds projects which enhance the hospital experience for patients, visitors and staff at both Queen’s Hospital, Romford and King George Hospital, Ilford.

Celebrating the 70th anniversary of the NHS

On the 28th September 2018, the Sound of PRIDE NHS Choir are hosting an evening of entertainment.

The evening will be dedicated to celebrating the NHS at 70 and all monies raised will be donated to the King George & Queen's Hospitals Charity.

The show will take you on a journey through the 7 decades of the NHS, telling its story and celebrating its milestones, including its launch, the introduction of various operations and procedures & the support network within the NHS. The story will be told through not just speech but more importantly through the media of performances from:

  • Harrison Irish Dance Academy
  • Jhermy Esperanzate - Senior Nurse for Stroke
  • Kalpana Patel - Pharmacist
  • Rebecca Amissah - Singer/Songwriter/Performer
  • Jack Blackbourn - Magician

and of course, us the Sound of PRIDE NHS Choir

The venue: R.U.S.S.C Club, 28 Mawney Road, Romford, RM7 7HB

Doors open: 7pm, Show starts 7.30pm

A raffle is also being held on the night and a disco will follow the show til midnight.

Tickets cost £10 - if you make a donation via justgiving, you money goes straight to the charity. Please then get in touch with michael.dixie@bhrhospitals.nhs.uk to give your name and details so that we can have the ticket ready for you on the door.

A bit about us:

Thank you for visiting the Sound of Pride Choir's JustGiving page.

The Sound of Pride Choir was set up in November 2015 and is made up of a group of enthusiastic NHS staff from King George and Queen's Hospitals (Barking, Havering and Redbridge University Hospitals NHS Trust).

The group have formed from a number of the different departments within the hospitals with two aims.

AIM 1: To enhance the health and well being of our patients, visitors and staff.

AIM 2: To help raise money for the King George and Queen's Hospitals Charity.

The choir have a number of performances under our belts which include:

  • Spirituality Conference, Queen's Hospital, Essex in December 2015
  • AmisStar Takeover Event, Romford town centre, Essex in 2016
  • Dying Matters week, Queen's Hospital atrium in May 2016
  • International Women's Day, Havering College, Essex in 2016
  • World Voice Day, Queen's Hosptial Atrium in 2016 & 2017
  • Annual General Meeting, King George Hospital, Essex in 2016
  • Christmas Lights Switch On Event, Romford, Essex in 2016
  • BHRUT staff PRIDE awards, in 2016 & 2017
  • Carol Singing on the wards at King George and Queen's Hosptials in 2016
  • Special performance celebrating BHRUT coming out of Special Measures, welcoming staff, visitors and patients into the hospital in the morning, 2017
  • Church Performance at "A Night with Rebecca Amissah", 2017
  • Equality and Diversity Conference, NELFT and BHRUT, 2017
  • Fringe Festival, Romford Brewery, February 2018
  • Launch of Proud, our single, April 2018
  • NHS 70 celebrations at Queen's Hosptial, Romford, July 2018
