Parents and staff from the Southampton Neonatal Unit are all running the Great South Run together to raise money for our unit via Ickle Pickles.

NICU Consultants Dr Puddy, Dr Pearson & Dr Fielder along with Nursery Nurse Anne Sales, and her daughter Rebecca, and parents and friends of the unit will all be running the 10 mile race on the 29th October.

We are hoping to raise money to go towards the new Parent & Family Facilities Project, which includes the creation of a new Mum's Expressing Suite, with new comfortable breast-feeding chairs and new expressing pumps.

Southampton Neonatal Unit treat over 800 babies a year from all over the region, including very premature babies and babies needing surgery. One such baby is Eva, daughter of 2 of the runners, who was born at 27 weeks weighing just 1lb 13oz. She had a difficult time, and needed heart surgery at just 11 days old, but after 100 days she was finally well enough to go home, and is now a happy and mischeivous toddler! And there is just so so much to thank Southampton NICU for!!
