Citizens UK member organisations from chapters across the UK are working to support people in their communities impacted by the COVID-19 crisis.

Story

We are Southwark and Peckham Citizens, an alliance of faith, education, charity and community organisations working together for justice in our borough, as part of Citizens UK. In response to the Covid-19 crisis, we are fundraising to support the most vulnerable members of our communities.

We are fundraising to support the most urgent needs in the community. Examples of this are;

  • Central Southwark Community Hub; a foodbank for people in the area facing food poverty. Currently the food bank is being held in 4 different locations on 4 different days and it’s looking at being extended to a fifth day.
  • Other front-line services that our members are providing - such as school specific foodbanks and babybanks that support parents with nappies, baby milk etc.
  • Providing hardship funds for individuals in organisations where emergencies arise.
  •  If there are any leftover funds, they will go towards supporting any smaller, struggling member organisations to continue campaigning with their Citizens alliance over the next year.
