Story
Active Therapy Foundation is a fantastic charity, which has helped my daughter and many other children and adults with disabilities. Anna has been having Active Therapy at home and at school for about 2 years now, and it has really helped her in so many ways, which has given her new found confidence and self esteem. As well as individual therapy Active Therapy Foundation run Spartac Gymnastics club, which Anna loves. I also love spending my Sundays helping out, and Anna has met some great friends, which I know will last a life time including my triathlon team mate Liz Ord's, son Billy.
Liz and I are really proud that our children are part of their fantastic inclusive display team, who perform at national and international events and competitions, in these events they have demonstrated world-wide what can be achieved given the right training and opportunities. Gymnasts benefit hugely from the team atmosphere, and the sense of achievement they get from performing to such a high standard is immense. In 2019, the team, of 25 disabled and mainstream gymnasts, will be traveling to Austria, to represent Great Britain in the World Gymnaestrada, this would be an amazing experience for all, and be an incredible boost to their confidence and self-esteem, which are often difficult for those with disabilities to otherwise experience.
Unfortunately, the costs are much higher than for most of the other teams, because due to the range of disabilities within the group, there is a need for a higher level of support to enable our gymnasts to participate.
Liz and I would love to help support the team, by helping to raise funds to help with training and travel for this event. So please help us, by reading and sharing our page, about our triathlon team's journey and our childrens adventures with their gymnastics team. Many many thanks for your time. Elaine and Liz
