Spartan Survival Challenge · 14 May 2022 to 15 May 2022 ·

This year we've teamed up with Spartan Survival to offer our supporters an exclusive challenge. Teams of two will be pushed to their limits as they try to survive the wild.

Story

This year we are taking part in an extreme survival challenge to help raise funds for Liverpool University Hospitals Charity and to support Dementia Activities for the Department of Medicine for Older People and Stroke.

There are currently an estimated 55 million people worldwide living with dementia and the number of people affected is set to rise to 139 million by 2050.  A new case of dementia arises somewhere in the world every 3 seconds.  There is currently no cure for dementia, but there are a range of resources for people with dementia and their carers.

Our Trust Dementia services aims to help and support patients and carers by providing a number of different initiatives for staff, patients and their carers to access. These include Dementia care patient information packs and memory cafés for patients suffering from dementia. Dementia sufferers can take part in memory-themed activities, with trained dementia staff on-hand to provide advice, support and answer questions and we our aiming to provide this service directly into our department to support patients on our wards and improve their experience.  We are looking for your donations to buy equipment for dementia activities to utilise in our newly created dementia friendly space

We will be pushed to our limits and undergoing 2 days of outdoor survival training delivered by British forces elite. Please donate to help us raise as much money as possible and make this challenge worthwhile.

The challenge includes constructing our own shelter, good enough to sleep in and shield us from the weather, to make and maintain a fire to cook rations or any food we find and to track and navigate our way through Cheshire Woodland at night.  We will also be participating in Axe throwing and firing exercises
