Story
Mental health and suicide is an ever growing issue in current times. It's an issue that I personally struggled with in the past, and with the help of my family and friends managed to overcome.
As a former Royal Marine Commando I am used to pushing my body and mind to limits well out of my comfort zone.
This is something I want to do again to raise awareness that it is ok to reach out and talk to someone when you're feeling at your lowest.
On Saturday 22nd October I will be completing a 24 Hour march (walking/running) wearing 45 lbs in kit including body armour.
This will be down a 5 mile cross country route where I walk to help clear my mind and now look after my own mental health.
If this can help raise money to help charities combat against suicide or inspire anyone that is going through a personal dark time to get help, then that would be amazing.
This will be raising money for the Charity CALM:
Campaign Against Living Miserably (CALM) is leading a movement against suicide. Every week 125 people in the UK take their own lives. And 75% of all UK suicides are male. CALM exists to change this by offering life saving services, provoking conversation and bringing people together to reject living miserably. From advice on our site, through to free, confidential chats with our helpline staff, online or on the phone, we’re here for whoever needs us, every day. No matter what. £8 is enough to fund one potentially life-saving call.
