Rainbows children’s hospice is charity that is very close to home for us at Spectrum Health as we have seen the loving support they provide one of our families.
The mother of a little boy who has a life limiting illness describes the charity as “an amazing charity. They provide us with so
much incredible support in looking after our incredible little boy”.
She further explained that “Rainbows provide so much support; we have a family support worker who is only a phone call away and offers so much practical advice and kind words. There are doctors who are used to looking after very special children, like my little boy. They have a wealth of knowledge and certainly have improved his quality of life. We have had music and play therapy from the wonderful team of staff have put smiles on all of our faces. We have had family stays at the hospice when our little boy has been unwell or as a family if we have felt overwhelmed. Staff have been so kind and caring and have helped us to get back on our feet to fight another day”.
“Having such a sick child can be very isolating and frightening,
but Rainbows have given us so much support by giving us a hand to hold and a shoulder to cry on. Rainbows is a charity and relies of donations to continue their amazing work of looking after children and their families. Donations have been falling during the pandemic as fundraising activities have all but ground to a halt. We really hope that you can support Rainbows, so they can continue to care for our special children.”
At Spectrum Health we have been touched by the additional support
they provide the family and upon having numerous discussions with the mother, we can see how much the charity helps her family and her lovely little boy.
As a practice we will always be there for the family and although we take refuge in knowing they have such wonderful support, we still want to do more. We have therefore committed to a jump from 13,000 ft in October 2021 as we stand in solidarity with the concerned family and hope to raise lots of funds for this truly amazing charity.
Next week we will be pulling two names from a hat in order to
identify those selected for jump! We will be releasing their reactions in real time on Facebook Live.
