£300 raised at Hockey Fun Day in October
Dispite the terrible weather and amazing £298.27 was raised by Spencer Junior Hockey members on the start of season fun day. Well done everyone - you're amazing.
Another £377 in March
An amazing effort at the end of season tournament and fun day has raised £377 for the cause. Thank you to all parents who baked, bounced, threw wellies, barbequed and served.
Other great individual efforts to note:
The Leightons and Girls U14 Development team have donated £250 after raising money from doughnut selling. Martin Carr-Hill (Boys U12 manager) is running up a hill in Lanzarote and has raised almost £2,000! http://www.justgiving.com/martinch
Martin has raised a further £1k+ by auctioning off a signed football photo at a work function.
Also a big thanks to Ian Stoppani who is donating 20% of the value of every meal bought in aid of Spencer fundraising in April at Le Bouchon Bordelais, Battersea, and Le Bouchon Breton in the City.

£350 More Raised in November
Two cakes sales in November, the Halloween movie night and the Year 7,8,9 Disco have raised over £350 towards our target.
Thanks to parents who baked, sold cakes and coffee. Also all our bouncers at the disco.
Hockey Fun Day raises over £700.00
All age groups took part in matches and tournaments, and some tremendous hockey skill was on display, dispite it being the start of the season.
As well as all the fun and games on the astro and grass, a team of parents got down and dirty landscaping the area next to steps to the astro. Lose yourself in the colour and scent next time you walk onto the pitch!

Why are we raising money?
Our sports facilities are now brilliant thanks to the efforts of tennis, hockey, cricket and squash members past and present. We have use of a fantastic new astroturf pitch which has propelled the hockey juniors into a new era of growth and development. Although we are now able to give competitive sporting opportunities to about 1800 regular players of all ages across our different sports at Spencer, the changing and social facilities have not kept pace. The club once again finds itself limited in what it can achieve by the state of the buildings. We need to bring our crumbling shack of a clubhouse into the 21st century.
Recently The Spencer Club approved a plan to refurbish the clubhouse. This will involve maintaining the present layout but improving the quality of the facilities within it, such as the social area, changing rooms, toilets and shower facilities. The club plans to improve the kitchen and bring a more professional approach to day to day running of the club, with snacks and light meals available in the evenings and at weekends. The idea is that this will keep us going for a few more years until we raise sufficient funds to completely redesign and rebuild the clubhouse. We hope to begin work in spring next year.
How much do we need?
However, the refurbishment is not cheap, and the cost has been estimated at some £150,000. Some of this cost is being met from the Club's reserves,but the rest has to be met through fundraising activities across all the sections of the Club. Each Section has been set a target of raising £50 per adult and junior member by the end of December 09. For the junior hockey section, that amounts to £12,000.

For just £5/month for a year you can easily reach the £50 per member target.
Make sure you set up an account first, before making a donations. If you donate without setting up an account first, you will not be able to change or cancel your donation on-line. You would have to phone or write to Just Giving.
2) Set up your own page on Just Giving, pick a challenge and get friends and family to sponsor you.
Individual target is a minimum of £50. Team targets will be £50 x number of members in your team. Why not get your age group together and pick an event or challenge to do together. There are loads of ideas at the bottom of this page.

Individual Fundraisers
Raise £50 on your own – Set up your page on www.justgiving.com/spencerclub and ask friends and family to sponsor you on-line. Here are some fun ideas:

Team Fundraisers

10. Fill a Smarties tube - Each team member fills one or more Smarties tubes with £1 coins. When all handed in, they are numbered and one is picked at random. The collector gets to keep the money in that tube.
