Friendly Spider Challenge · 14 April 2018

Centre for ADHD & Autism Support (CAAS) supports, educates and empowers ADHD/autistic individuals, their families, and the community. Through raising awareness we change perceptions, break down barriers, and create more inclusive communities. We offer over 50 different services across NW London.

Story

My daughter, Laura, has just turned 12 and is terrified of spiders. She makes us check her room at night before bedtime, check her shoes before putting them on and doesn't like to enjoy the great outdoors in case there are spiders around.
She feels her arachnophobia is really restricting what she wants to do both inside and out, and so has decided to take part in The Friendly Spider Programme at London Zoo on the 14th of April, 2018.
We are all hoping that she might feel a bit happier about our 8 legged friends afterwards, and she has decided to try and get some sponsorship for a local charity that has been very supportive of our family, the Centre for ADHD and Autism Support.
This is not an easy thing for Laura to do; the photo above shows her with one of my needle felted spiders and I had to squash it a few times to prove it wasn't real, and then she threw it to the ground afterwards. Any donation would show Laura that there is support for her to face her fears. We would be very grateful!
