Spire Norwich Cycle Challenge for THET · 23 June 2019
Spire Norwich Hospital is proud to be taking part in a company-wide fundraising challenge from Sunday 23 – Sunday 30 June 2019 to raise money for THET.
THET is a London-based charity that works to create a world where everyone, everywhere, has access to healthcare. This will be achieved by training and educating health workers in low and middle-income countries in partnership with volunteers from across the UK health community.
All 39 Spire Hospitals are taking part in a challenge to raise £40,000 and to cycle 40,000km as a company. Here at Spire Norwich we will be doing our bit by aiming to cycle 1,000km across the week, and raising £1,000 for THET.
Pete Penny, our superfit Physiotherapy Manager will be cycling the Challenge 100 event in Norfolk on Sunday 30th June. You can sponsor him here.
All donations will make a difference to the work that THET can do. To give you an idea of how far our money can go just £150 could fund a day of sexual and reproductive health training for rural health workers and teachers in South West Uganda, empowering communities, and especially young people, with vital family planning guidance. £2,000 could fund thirty days of stroke diagnosis, treatment and care training to nurses and physiotherapists in Ethiopia, helping to reduce the morbidity and mortality of stroke, particularly in remote areas.
So good luck Pete and to everyone who's taking part. And thank you for your generous donations.
