We fund long-term, sustainable research to find a cure for brain tumours

Story

As three friends drove to Woolacombe they decided that they would like to climb a mountain; if you are going to climb one mountain you may as well climb two; if your'e going to climb two mountains you may as well climb three, say the highest peaks in England, Scotland and Wales (Scafell Pike- 3,209 ft, Ben Nevis- 4,409 ft and Snowden-3560 ft respectively), and if you are going to climb three mountains you may as well only give yourself 24hrs to do it.

And so with the help of our willing and experienced colleague Andy and the support of Spire Hospital Bristol our Challenge was set….

THREE GIRLS...       THREE PEAKS...    THREE CHARITIES...

We were galvanised into action because of the personal significance of each of our charities to our team.  Claire’s cousin was diagnosed with an Oligoastrocytoma, a mixed cell brain tumour, in 2009 at the age of 28. For this reason we have chosen Brain Tumour Research a united campaign set up to accelerate progress significantly in brain tumour research in the UK in order to make a clinical difference and improve the outcomes for brain tumour patients.

            -  16 000 diagnosed with a brain tumour every year.

            -  More people under 40 die of brain tumours than any other cancer.

           - Brain tumours are the biggest cancer killer of UK children.

           - 25% of all cancers spread to the brain.

Hammer out which is a local charity providing help and support of brain tumour sufferers and their families as well as raising money for research purposes.

Western hospice a local charity who provide palliative care both within the hospice and in the comunity. They are currently  giving invaluable support to a member of Abbe's family.

NB: All money donated to this site will go straight to Brain tumour research; any money given in cash will be divided between the three charities.

Brain tumours kill more children and adults under the age of 40 than any other cancer. Just 1% of the national spend on cancer research has been allocated to this disease. We are a leading voice calling for support and action for research into what is called the last battleground against cancer.
