Story
Run for a good cause! Ahead of the 2019 Laureus World Sports
Awards in Monaco, Laureus has partnered with Monaco Run to launch the ‘Sport for Good Run’.
The partnership follows Laureus’ successful engagement with
the local athletics community earlier this year, through the 1000m races at the Herculis EBS IAAF Diamond League meeting in July.
A number of mass participation Monaco Run events will
precede the Laureus World Sports Awards, which take place on Monday February 18:
- On Saturday 16 February, the 1000m Sport for Good races
will take place, with all participants encouraged to make a donation to support the work of Laureus Sport for Good when finalising their registration. A series of 1000m races will take place throughout the day, catering for all ages and abilities.
- Following Saturday’s activities, three races will take place on Sunday
17 February. Firstly, a 5km race will capture the spirit of the Diamond League meeting Herculis EBS and will encourage all participants, racing alongside elite runners, to deliver leading performances. Secondly, a City Trail run on the streets of Monaco will give participants the chance enjoy the Principality on a route no athlete has run before. There will also be a Pink Ribbon Walk for those who would like to take part in a more leisurely activity.
The 2019 Laureus World Sports Awards will bring together the biggest
names in sport and entertainment to celebrate sporting success and achievement over the last year. The event also showcases the work of Laureus Sport for Good, which supports more than 150 programmes in 40 countries, using the power of sport to address the many social challenges facing children and young people around the world.
