Story
The Smooth Operators want to help teenagers with cancer feel a little more relaxed and comfortable whilst undergoing treatment. We want to provide a homely environment by providing TV's, games consoles, medical equipment and little luxuries to help get them through their daily routine. We would also like to provide some money to buy little things for the parents and families to help them cope with this.
We cannot imagine what it must be like to go through something like this and want to help by making the ward have a 'home from home' atmosphere to try make the treatment more bearable and easier to cope with. If we can provide games, equipment etc. for them to use, it will take their minds off what they are going through even for a short while. By providing such equipment it will provide the teenagers with a common interest, bring them together to have a little 'fun' time and time to talk.
We will liaise with the teenage cancer ward at Castle Hill to devise a plan of how the money will be best spent; however, we do believe that the TV's, games consoles, luxury items etc. as mentioned above will be a priority. We will also ask the teenagers themselves what they think will make the ward better and ask what their needs are and if we can help them get the item they think will be of benefit to them and the ward.
On September 13th this year 10 members of our staff will be running the RB Hull Marathon in aid of the Teenage Cancer Ward at Castle Hill Hospital, Hull.
2 Teams (4 relay runners and 1 individual runner per team) will go head to head to see who will be crowned this year's Springfield RB Hull Marathon Champions! The teams are comprised of a Brand Management Team; "Smooth Operators" and a Print Team; "4 Fat Smokers".
Competing in our team will be; Kerry Raper, Rachel Laughton, Kristina Dass and Andrew Ennis, along with Luke Rounding as the individual runner.
So who's your money on?
