Welcome to the /r/StarWarsSquadrons Holiday Charity Event!
We are holding a mini competition and a giveaway for our community! Every $5 you donate will grant you one entry into our raffle for your choice of HOTAS and a limited-edition Star Wars: Squadrons wireless Xbox controller! All donations will go to the Starlight Childrens Foundation, an organization that provides support to hospitals and hospices across the US, UK, and Australia to provide hospitalized kids with comfort, entertainment, and allow them to just be kids in a stressful and scary environment. A service that is especially needed during this pandemic, when child life specialists, the unsung hospital heroes whose mission is to reduce anxiety, fear, and pain for sick kids, are being told to work remotely, being reassigned to help with adult patients, and limiting the number of patients they can be in contact with to reduce the risk of exposure. Now, more than ever, Starlight Children's Foundation is hearing from hospital partners and families across the world just how critical the need is to bring happiness to hospitalized kids during these uncertain times.
Programs from the Starlight Children's Foundation help hospitalized children by alleviating stress and anxiety, helping them feel more comfortable in an unfamiliar environment, letting them socialize with other children going through the same or similar issues, providing emotional support and education through games, and preventing, reducing, or stopping pain sensations associated with medical procedures.
