Inspired by the European Championships 2018, a team of us from Scottish Refugee Council have decided to sign up to the Great Scottish Half Marathon in Glasgow to raise money for our Destitution Fund. Destitution is a far larger problem than most people realise. Some manage to drift between sleeping on people's floors; others end up on the street- either way these often already traumatised individuals are left in an extremely vulnerable situation leading to further exploitation. At SRC, we support people through this process and give support and direction at this difficult time. With less than 7 weeks of training to go (ah!!), running 13 miles is going to be a big challenge for most of us, so please dig deep and help destitute asylum seekers access the support they need.
