The Society of Sports Therapists is delighted to announce that Transplant Sport UK is its chosen charity for 2019.
Sports Therapists will be travelling as part of a multi-disciplinary therapy team to both the British Transplant Games 2019, in Newport (25th – 28th July) and the World Transplant Games 2019, to be held in Newcastle (17th -24th August). They will be working to support the Great Britain & Northern Ireland (GB & NI) athletes, all of whom have received a life-saving organ transplant.
The Society is keen to support the therapists, who have volunteered to provide care and treatment to the GB & NI competitors, to ensure that each participant has an enjoyable, safe experience and to help the athletes compete at their best.
Each therapist is self-funded, so any donations will go a long way.
The Society will be supporting Transplant Sport UK throughout 2019, to help raise awareness of the benefits of transplant sport, organ donation and the NHS Organ Donor Register.

To show its continued support, the Society will be holding a Transplant Sport Awareness Week (4th-9th November 2019), during which the 27 universities that the Society collaborates with are invited to raise awareness and money for Transplant Sport UK.
To round off the Awareness Week, the Society, in collaboration with Coventry University, will be holding the Inaugural Sport, Exercise Medicine and Performance Conference:
‘The Transplant Athlete – An Evolving Challenge’ - Sunday 10th November 2019, Coventry University.
