Story
Hopefully you don’t know about Stage IV cancer and what it means. Unfortunately we have just found out as Bernadette, one of our dearest friends living in America, has recently been diagnosed with metastatic breast cancer (MBC). The diagnosis is terminal and the implications unfathomable.
Even more terrifying is that given there is no cure to Stage IV cancer, the vast majority of cancer funding and research is focused elsewhere, leaving Stage IV sufferers with little hope other than beating the odds and living slightly longer than the average 4 years from diagnosis.
This situation is nowhere near good enough for our friend, her husband and their young kids. We are participating in the Richmond Spring Riverside 10Km run in March as a way of raising awareness of Stage IV sufferers and the need for specific funding in this area. All monies we raise will go towards the much needed research and support the only organisation in the U.S dedicated to research in MBC, Metavivor. Please read up on their research http://www.metavivor.org/about-us/.
Thanks for anything you may be able to give. You really are making a difference!
