Standing Up For Those That Can't · 7 March 2017

Every day in the UK, another 240 people wake up to the catastrophic impact of a stroke. The Stroke Association is the only charity in the UK providing lifelong support for all stroke survivors and their families.

Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

I am revisiting my challenge to ride from Lands End to John O'Groats and back again on a stand up bike - 1700 miles in 12 days.

I attempted this challenge in 2017 but, after reaching John O'Groats in under 5 days, I was forced to abandon due to the support vehicle breaking down.

I am an experienced marathon and endurance runner but this extreme challenge takes me way beyond anything else I have attempted, therefore I thought I would use this challenge to raise money for the Stroke Association which is a charity close to my heart. My mother-in-law suffered a massive stroke three years ago. She is now permanently paralysed, unable to speak and requires 24 hour care.

I feel I need to complete this challenge as a thank you to the many people who generously donated to my designated charities last year.

The ride will start on Sunday 24 June and I am hoping to achieve it in approximately 12 days.
