Story

Thank you for taking the time to visit our JustGiving page.

Wootton Rivers is a pretty village in Wiltshire, with a population of around 200. A church has existed on the present site for over 900 years although the current St Andrew's church was built in the 14th Century and then extensively restored in 1861.  In 1911 its famous "Scrap-heap Clock" celebrating the coronation of King George V was added, having been manufactured by local resident Jack Spratt.

Maintenance of historic churches such as ours is very important and the Wiltshire Historic Churches Trust makes an invaluable contribution to the cost of refurbishment to achieve this objective. St Andrew's has recently had its roof repaired and the clock refurbished, for which we have been very generously supported by our parishioners and other supporters, including a generous donation from the Trust.

Our Walk and Ride this year is targeting calling at up to 12 of the churches in the Vale of Pewsey, over a distance of 18 miles.
